The way we envision the built environment will change irreversibly - for the better. The idea of a world changed forever sounds ominous. Today we’re going to explore the idea of permanent improvements.

AR for construction trades is a fantastic tool to keep multiple subcontractors on the same page during a new build, regardless of its size or scope.

Oculus Quest has us equally excited here at Stambol. When we used the word ‘practical’ in the title of this post, it was by no means meant to be a buzzkill.

When we picture the urban environments of the future, most of us know what we want our cities to achieve. Clean air and streets. Manageable traffic. Safe pedestrian spaces. Green recreation areas. And technology invisibly humming along underneath it all.But how much do we think about the infrastructure changes required to bring about these futuristic utopias? These cities are not places that someone else will come and build for us. To make smart cities happen, we need to lay the foundations now.

Canada's best and brightest in Building Information Modeling (BIM) gathered in Vancouver last week for CanBIM's annual Vancouver Regional Session. Our CEO Dogu Taskiran presented a talk titled, Digital Twins: Bridging the Physical and Digital Worlds. Not only was it amazing to have Stambol represented so prominently at CanBIM here in Vancouver, but our excitement was doubled by the recognition that Digital Twins are integral to the future of building technology.

A building that does not yet exist is a magical space. Unbuilt structures are pure potential … blank canvases on which the human mind can unleash raw creativity. They are environments where all things are possible, including impressive feats of engineering and unprecedented artistic expression. While practicality must enter the process early on, as every building has to meet a need and serve a purpose, we love exploring the ways unbuilt environments can exist as ideas, digitally articulated.

You have less than half a year to get your BIM files and 3D renderings ready for all the corporate and municipal approvals necessary so that this relatively small patch of earth can be dug into and built sky-high to become the most impressive building the city around it has ever seen.
